County Resource Guides

The Boulder County Network of Care online Resource Guide of community services for older adults, adults with disabilities, and their informal caregivers are sponsored by the Boulder County Area Agency on Aging.

Transportation

Denver Regional Mobility & Access Council (DRMAC). The Denver Regional Mobility and Access Council (DRMAC) ensures people with mobility challenges have access to the community by providing regional transportation services and resources.

VIA is a full-spectrum mobility manager offering transportation, travel training, mobility options information and referral and a wide range of community resources. Our services provide a lifeline and, for many, a bridge to the community.

IntelliRide manages non-emergency medical and non-medical transportation for Health First Colorado members in the state of Colorado. As the state-contracted broker for Health First Colorado, IntelliRide manages NEMT services for the entire state of Colorado.

Access-a-Ride is RTD’s ADA complementary paratransit service. It is a shared-ride service intended for those who cannot use regular fixed-route bus/light rail service due to a disability. Covers the entire RTD service area.

Nutrition and Health

City of Boulder Older Adult Services offers, among other services, individualized help to support the healthcare needs of adults 60 + and their family caregivers. Staff is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 303-441-4388 for bilingual help.

Boulder County AAA (Area Agency on Aging) Healthy Aging Programs provides monthly programs concerning nutrition, diabetes, medicare, and other areas for a healthy lifestyle.

• Broomfield Lakeshore lunches are open to the public and are hosted by Broomfield Senior Services at the Broomfield Community Center.  You may make your reservations at B-Rex.com. If you are unable to get to Lakeshore due to a disability or are having difficulty preparing a meal at home, please call 303.464.5532.

Alzheimer's Associations knows that Caregivers for Alzheimer's and dementia face special challenges. Caring for a person with Alzheimer’s or dementia often involves a team of people. Whether you provide daily caregiving, participate in decision making, or simply care about a person with the disease — we have resources to help.

Meals on Wheels Boulder provides healthy and high-quality meals to people who can not shop for food or prepare their own meals. We serve the lonely, isolated, often invisible members of our community. Our clients are able to maintain an improved quality of life, better health, and independence.

Coal Creek Meals on Wheels provides daily nutritious meals and related support services to members of our community in need, helping them to live with dignity in their own homes. We serve the communities of Lafayette, Louisville, Superior and Erie.

Longmont Meals on Wheels focuses on providing hot, nutritious meals and a daily check to older adults and people with disabilities that reside in the communities of Longmont and Niwot. This service helps them maintain their independence, health, and dignity.


Technology Related Resources

Boulder Public Library works with volunteers to connect with users for one-on-one tech sessions. We call this service Virtual Tech Help. It is available in English or Spanish and includes self-paced tutorial videos on a variety of computer basics.

SeniorNet provides computer and internet education to adults over the age of 55. SeniorNet provides a wealth of resources for community centers, senior centers, and other organizations to build technology access and training programs.

GCFLearnFree.org is an online classroom with tutorials on how to use Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook), email, social media, and more. Tutorials use east to understand step by step instructions for senior learning.

Senior Planet offers free computer classes and technological help to people over the age of 60 through the Senior Planet program. Contact: 718-360-1707.

• Tech Cafe - Need help with our digital devices and tech? Drop in with questions about your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or e-reader. Tech Cafe is held at the Broomfield Library (3 Community Park Road, Broomfield, CO 80020) on Tuesdays from 3-5 p.m. More information here.

• Tech Tutor Appointments - The Broomfield Library offers free one-on-one tech tutoring on basic software, device troubleshooting, and internet navigation. For more information or to make an appointment, call 720-887-2350.

• Library Programs for Older Adults - Looking to join a book group, test your hand at a new craft, or listen to a guided meditation? The Broomfield Library offers in-person and virtual programs throughout the week. Visit B-Rex.com and use the search term “seniorlibrary” to discover current adult programs.


Veterans

MakeTheConnection.net connects Veterans, their families and friends, and other supporters to mental health information, a tool for finding local mental health resources, and videos of Veterans sharing their inspiring stories of recovery. The site is free to use and accessible to everyone.

House of Heroes is a volunteer program that provides free home repairs for the elderly or disabled military and public safety veterans and/or their spouses as a way of saying “thank you” for their service to our country.

Operation Homefront’s Critical Financial Assistance program helps military families address critical financial shortfalls. Most often, this means assistance with mortgage payments, rent, utilities, car repairs, home repairs, overdue bills, critical baby items, and groceries.

• Veterans benefits can be a source of confusion and frustration for military families. This typically occurs because senior veterans don’t know their rights or don’t understand the bureaucratic barriers to apply for veterans benefits. United Way call, chat, or text service to find local resources for food, shelter, health care, mental health, and more.

AARP provides virtual events that are engaging, fun, and educational. It’s a great way to help stay connected, plus an online driver safety course and tools to combat loneliness and isolation.

Colorado Gerontological Society offers online access to videos and classes with an emphasis on seniors being able to stay independent as long and as comfortably as possible.

Mental Health Partners.  Providing help with mental health and addiction issues 303-443-8500. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis contact the Colorado Crisis Services for 24-hour assistance at 844-493-8255 or call 911.

Relay Colorado provides public service that enables people with hearing or speech loss who use a teletypewriter (TTY) or other assistive device to communicate with standard telephone users, relayed by a communications assistant. Download the PDF here.

Boulder U-Fix-It Clinic: At Boulder U-Fix-It Clinic events, people bring all sorts of broken appliances, toys, electronics, clothing, and jewelry and work with volunteer coaches to learn hands-on repair skills. A set of tools is available for each participant to use.

• Veterans may suffer serious health problems as a result of their service. Thankfully, there are many health care resources available to veterans. Simmons Hanly Conroy has created a dedicated resource page to provide information on resources that help support our heroes.

• Moving is a major ordeal for anyone, but seniors may face particularly difficult challenges when relocating. Caregivers often have to make decisions for their aging loved ones to live in a safe space, which may require renovating the home or looking into assisted living.
