Carey Mason, Presidente

Owner, The Alternative Board - Northern Colorado

Carey Mason is the CEO for The Alternative Board – Northern Colorado providing business coaching to small businesses throughout northern Colorado. Leveraging more than 3 decades of marketing, software development, sales, service, operations, human resources and financial planning skills, Carey assists businesses to develop strategies and detailed action plans to achieve the owner’s personal and company visions. Carey is a Certified TAB Facilitator.

Carey received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s degree from The Ohio State University.

Donna F. Mitchell, MD, Vicepresidente

BodyPoint Medicine, LLC

Donna is a board-certified anesthesiologist, medical acupuncturist and Functional Medicine physician. She is the owner and founder of BodyPoint Medicine located in Longmont, Colorado where she treats primarily chronic pain and associated health disorders. She has worked in the medical field for over 35 years. She is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and Auburn Executive MBA programs. She is married and is ‘mom’ to 4 wonderful adult children. She is also volunteering her time as a Field Member for Front Range Search and Rescue Dogs and is a training handler for her working German Shepherd, Anika. Both living away from her own elderly parents and caring for elderly patients, she understands the importance in keeping seniors in their own homes for as long as possible and is aware of how difficult that can be when families are spread across the country. She is a Yard Buster volunteer for Cultivate as well as volunteers her time as a Board Member.

Karen Pickering, Secretaria

Business Insurance Agent, Bolder Insurance

Karen has been a Commercial Insurance Advisor in Boulder County since 1999. She helps business owners understand their insurance needs and protect their assets. Karen is passionate about building and keeping relationships. She is active in the community, and in addition to the being a Cultivate Board member she served on the Louisville Chamber board for six years; and has been recognized by her peers with an award for “Volunteer of the Year” for her service to the Boulder Chamber. When Karen is not in the office or volunteering you can find her on the golf course or on her tandem bike with her husband Richard.

Robert Schaffner, Tesorero

CPA Jubilado/Voluntario

Robert M. Schaffner was born in Chicago, Illinois, and resided in the area until his retirement in 2008, at which time he moved to Boulder Colorado. He is married to Marjorie, and they have two children: Jodi (Bryan Sugar) and Adam (Marcie Rubin) Schaffner which have provided them with 6 grandchildren.

Bob is a retired CPA. He spent his career in public accounting for six years and thirty-two years as a financial executive for both public and private companies in the real estate industry. He is a graduate of Roosevelt University in Chicago. He has served as a member of the board, Treasurer and Vice President of Congregation BJBE in Glenview, IL and national board member of UAHC in New York, NY. Since moving to Boulder, he has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Boulder JCC, and Cultivate, serving as a board member and Treasurer. He currently serves as Treasurer and board member of the Olde Stage Water District, a private water utility in Boulder County.

Nancy was networking before she knew she was a networker! She is involved with the local community and numerous organizations. One person recently said, “You are a walking, LIVE, LinkedIn!” Her company, Nancy Chin-Wagner, LLC, is a training and consulting firm that, through her PowerConnections group and programs, helps businesses and professionals to network with confidence and move beyond communication to true connections, leveraging their personal contacts to attain personal and professional success.

In the course of becoming a leader in the community and expanding her personal network, Nancy Chin-Wagner realized the immense power of her connections in advancing causes, careers and relationships. Seeing the struggles that most individuals and organizations have in building authentic bonds and leveraging relationships to achieve goals, she decided to step up and begin educating clients, and organizing connection opportunities through PowerConnections. Her work consists of networking events, speed networking, individual consultation, and speaking at universities and corporations, advising them about the importance of networking.

Susie Germany

Ms. Germany is the principal attorney and owner/manager of The Germany Law Firm, P.C., an elder law, estate planning, and probate boutique firm. She is licensed in both Alaska and Colorado and has practiced in the areas of domestic law, elder law, probate, and estate planning.

An active member of the Colorado Bar Association (CBA), Ms. Germany is a member of National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), an American College of Trusts and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) fellow, and former co-chair of the CBA Elder Law Section. She is a frequent speaker and lecturer and past adjunct faculty to paralegal programs at CLE’s in Colorado. Ms. Germany frequently teaches continuing legal education courses to attorneys and various groups at national conferences on topics including special needs planning, guardianship, elder fraud, and financial exploitation/abuse.
